Saturday School allows students to earn credits for previously failed major courses, and choose from a variety of electives, including courses in life skills, as well as innovative offerings. Service Learning Opportunities are also available for students to earn credits through approved community service activities.
Work-based Learning Opportunities for qualified juniors and seniors are available to earn both academic credit and a paycheck. Students work at an approved place of employment, receiving mentoring from their job supervisor and acquiring valuable employment skills. Other work-based credit options also exist; for example, students sometimes petition the Business Department in their school to receive academic credit for part-time, after-school employment. Supervisory reports and academic assignments are devised to complement the work experience.
The Youthworks component enables students to earn academic credit during the summer while employed at one of numerous community sites, thus gaining valuable work experience while contributing to their community and earning credit towards graduation.
