Beacon Center programs across the city work to support the following desired results in the lives of Philadelphia youth:
- Children and youth are involved in healthy activities and do not engage in high-risk behavior.
- Children live in safe and supportive communities and environments.
- Children and youth achieve in school and make a successful transition to adulthood.
- Children and youth have an enriching and safe environment to be in during after school and evening hours.
The Beacon Center at the Dick School is a full service center providing activities to enrich the lives of children and youth and empower the community. Educational and recreational services are offered for ages 6 through adult.
Homework Assistance, Tutoring, Computer Assisted Instruction, Sports, Recreation, Performing and Visual Arts are offered Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM for 50 children in grades K-5.
Academic Enhancement, Test Taking Skills, ABE/GED, Personal Development, Youth Council, Recreation, Healthy Life Styles, Urban Expressions and Community Engagement from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday for youth and adults.
Academic Enrichment, Resiliency Skills Development, Sports, Recreation and Cultural Exposures are offered in an eight-week summer program from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday.
- Classical Ballet, Basketball Leagues, Martial Arts, Video Production, Etiqette/Charm Clsasses, Spoken Word, Drama, Modern Dance, Drill Team, Aerobics, Yoga, and Tennis.
- Family Nights, Financial Literacy, Line Dancing, Cooking, Book Clubs, Computer Instruction, and Parenting Skills Development.
