Family Engagement Initiatives

Communities In Schools of Philadelphia’s (CISP) Family Engagement Programs are designed to actively engage the parents and caregivers of the children and youth served by CISP in authentic, meaningful family empowerment programming.

Parent-Child Home Program

The Parent-Child Home Program is a School District of Philadelphia initiative out of the Office of Early Childhood Education. The program is a voluntary literacy school readiness and parenting program for at-risk toddlers and their parents. The program is done through intensive home visiting, designed to increase parent's verbal responsiveness and enhance children's language development and subsequent school readiness and success.

Parent Volunteer Program

Communities In Schools of Philadelphia (CISP) is one of six community-based organizations partnering with the School District of Philadelphia's (SDP) Office of Family Engagement and Language Services to coordinate and manage the District's latest parent involvement initiative, the Parent Volunteer Program. The mission of the program is to promote, expand, and sustain authentic and measurable parent involvement in some 60% to 75% of the SDP's schools by involving approximately 1,500 parents/caregivers.
