Specialty Programs are those programs/projects that provide academic, service learning, and/or work-based learning experiences to participating students via mentoring partnerships of local community organizations. The following are the Specialty Projects offered by CISP:
Morgan Stanley Good Cents Program is a collaborative project developed and implemented by Morgan Stanley, Communities In Schools, Inc., and Classroom, Inc. on personal money management.
School Success Profile (SSP) is a survey administered to students that is designed to increase students education to help learn more about the needs and experiences of students at school, at home and in the community in an academic and social growth. SSP is based in the perspective that suggests the social environment has a powerful effect on a child's development and success in school.
The SSP Process: A pre-assessment survey is administered to groups of students in a classroom setting at the beginning of the school year. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) interprets the data and provides the CISP team members with Individual and Group Profile Survey results.
Researchers at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill School of Social Work consulted national experts in education, adolescent development, and psychometric testing for information regarding questionnaire design and program outcome assessment. Items and scales included in the SSP are based on extensive review of the literature on school success and proven assessment instruments.
The BellSouth Foundation and the Knight Foundation provided sponsorship for the UNC School of Social Work to work with Communities In Schools, Inc.'s representatives at the national, state, and local levels to design and implement the School Success Profile.
