Launched in Philadelphia in 1997, the Academy of Hospitality and Travel (AOHT) provides public high school students with the requisite knowledge and skills for a successful career in what many consider to be the world's largest service industry. The goal of AOHT is to prepare students for careers in the following industries: Lodging; Travel and Transportation; Theme Parks and Attractions.
The courses for AOHT include: Introduction to Hospitality and Travel; Geography for Hospitality and Travel; Travel Destination; Economics for Hospitality and Travel; English for Hospitality and Travel; Strategies for Success; Systems Applications and Hospitality; Customer Service; Tour and Brochure Planning; Lodging Management Program; and Website Construction.
A member of the National Academy Foundation (NAF), the Academy of Hospitality and Travel operates as a school within a school and is located in high schools nationwide. The Philadelphia High Schools that house AOHT are as follows:
