Our Approach
Since its own incorporation in 1986, Communities In Schools of Philadelphia, Inc. (CISP) has worked in close partnership with the School District of Philadelphia to leverage community resources on behalf of students and their families. Currently over 11,000 students per year are being helped to successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. The various programs offered by CISP targets the population of disadvantaged, low income, and/or underserved students. Our specialized programmatic approach incorporates the following CIS BASICS to provide support to Philadelphia’s youth, because every child needs and deserves:
- a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
- a safe place to learn and grow
- a healthy start and a healthy future
- a marketable skill to use upon graduation
- a chance to give back to peers and community
Our Mission
To champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.
