Reading at Storybook Land!

ELECT Families Explore the Magic of Reading at Storybook Land!

File_000 (1)The School District of Philadelphia, in partnership with Communities In Schools, provided students with tickets for an ELECT (Education Leading to Employment and Career Training) summer field trip to Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Young parents and their children received brand new books to enjoy on the long bus ride, provided through support from Team First Book Philadelphia. Upon arrival at the amusement park families were greeted by a giant Mother Goose statue pointing the way to fun. Participants had the opportunity to explore a wonderland of child-sized rides and attractions all based on favorite children’s books. The toddlers couldn’t contain their excitement from seeing Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, The Three Little Pigs, and Humpty Dumpty come alive straight from the pages of the books they love. The young parents’ connection to these beloved children’s stories is undeniable and the opportunity to explore Storybook Land together with their children was truly a summer highlight.

Communities In Schools would
like to thank the School District of Philadelphia, Team First Book Philadelphia and Herr’s for making this magical experience possible!
